A window to Europe
St. Petersburg city tour
Wherever
you look, you’ll see magnificent buildings of classical,
Baroque and Rococo style. Many of them were built by famous
Italian architects, who brought their logic into the city
plan. You are in the city that was built by Peter the Great
as an Empire’s new capital. During the reign of Elizabeth,
daughter of Peter the Great, St. Petersburg developed into
a fine European capital to rival those in the West. For
most if the XXth century the city was called Leningrad,
and hence you will see a lot of landmarks of the Soviet
period. You can make sure of that during the trip around
the city. You’ll visit Peter & Paul Fortress,
St. Isaak Cathedral and Our Saviour’s Church on Spilt
Blood, pass lots of big and small bridges over Neva and
smaller channels.
