“Stalin’s Bunker” and Metro-2
The creation of this object started in 1930s, and it was
meant to be used by Stalin as an underground building for
the military functions during the WWII, called “The
Stalin’s Unit”. The interior included: The session
Hall of the Supreme command chief of the Red Army; Stalin's
work cabinet; Stalin's rest room; Dining room; Generals
room (High command room). The object was the part of the
second subway – the famous Metro-2. It’s connected
with the city center (The Kremlin) with 17 kilometers of
the underground road. The entrances and exits were located
far away from the Bunker. To mask the object it was decided
to build a Sport complex on the surface, but it 1939 the
works were stopped leaving the sport complex unfinished.
The bunker occupies the territory of 100000 square km of
the underground areas. During the War there were about 2000
people living underground. But the bunker had never been
used for the military reasons.
